The Covid-19 epidemic that ravaged the world a year ago has also had a significant impact on the textile machinery business.
Italy’s textile machinery production decreased by 22% compared to the previous year, with a corresponding reduction in exports (-21 percent ) Italy’s output will be at its lowest level in more than 20 years in 2020. The general assembly of ACIMIT was viewed as a chance to reflect on what the sector had lost in 2020, while also offering a number of prospective ideas to restart the business.
ACIMIT has advanced its Digital Label initiative for certifying Italian textile machinery that uses a standard set of data in order to interact more readily with their client firms’ operating systems. “The amount of digitalization will progressively determine the competitive edge of each individual firm, as well as the competitive edge of the whole industry,” stated ACIMIT’s president.
ACIMIT’s general assembly confirmed Alessandro Zucchi as the ACIMIT president for two more years. Federico Businaro as vice president (Santex Rimar Group), Cristian Locatelli (Marzoli, Camozzi Group) and Andrea Piattelli (Unitech) also confirmed.
