NIFT and Himachal Pradesh Government will together develop ecosystem for innovation projects and start-ups

Premier institute for fashion technology, The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Chheb (Kangra) and the Industries Department, Himachal Pradesh have joined hands to work together.

Both organisations have signed MoU to assist the institution in setting up an incubator to establish an ecosystem for innovation projects and start-ups.

The MoU was signed between Aakash Dewangan, Director, NIFT, Chheb and Rakesh Kumar Prajapati, Director, Industries Department.

As per the Industries Department, to promote the untapped creativity of individual innovators, the Government had formulated a scheme for providing support to start-ups and for entrepreneurial and managerial development of small and medium enterprises through incubators.

The State Government has agreed to support NIFT, Chheb and the host institute would undertake business incubation as entrepreneurship development activities as per the provision of start-up policy and guidelines.

The activities of empanelled incubator will include apparel production, handicraft, bag designs for bags, leather, jewellery, furniture, pottery, fashion garments, toys and designing, bamboo craft and wood processing, etc.

Having Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Augmented reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) lab, the NIFT is a state-of-the-art centre that will help the young entrepreneurs experiment with their ideas. This is the 12th incubation centre being set up in the state.
