Morocco’s textile exports to Europe have increased by 23 percent so far in 2021 compared to 2020, when demand was low owing to the worldwide pandemic, according to Morocco’s industry minister.
In the face of Covid-19, the sector demonstrated resilience as local operators adjusted output to fulfil domestic demand for masks and protective gear while exporting surplus.
Despite the Ebola outbreak, Morocco’s textile sector produced 10,684 new employment in 2020, according to Economy Minister Housni Al-Hosseini. Incentives under the Industrial Acceleration plan, which helped create 116,500 employment between 2014 and 2020, have also benefitted the sector. Morocco has invested in vocational training for textile employment, therefore providing skilled human resources that are desperately required by investors.
