Merchandise, based in the United States, has declared the introduction of a new e-commerce-driven ecosystem for personalized products, with the goal of eliminating the friction and annoyance associated with broken supply chains. The e-commerce company has begun the process just in time for the holiday season in order to usher in a new paradigm for the entire Merch experience, from front end to back end.
According to a press release, Merchadise’s objective is to provide businesses with a quick and effective way of distributing customised products and e-commerce; through an effective and trustworthy workflow that decreases waiting time from many months to days or weeks. Brands that generate interaction through personalised merchandise are completely aware of the supply chain crisis. Alex Phelan and Alex Young, the creators of Merchandise, are as well, but they see that the virus has just exacerbated an already impending disaster. In fact, Phelan has been warning for years about the impending breakdown of the traditional supply chain architecture.
“Because of this ‘it gets the job done’ mentality, many corporations outsource their manufacturing to Asia.” The disturbing part is that many people in the apparel sector have no idea how their products are created.  We just had a renowned LA-based athleisure brand tour through our facility, and they had never seen or been to an apparel factory before. “It’s time to alter this,” stated Alex Young, co-founder of Merchandise, when asked about the present state of the bespoke products sector.
Manufacturing is done in factories in the United States and Central America, all on the same continent, so customised products don’t have to travel around the world before they reach their destination. The importance of engaging in locally sourced production has never been greater, and the Merchandise crew is ready to take on that challenge and save the personalised products market.
