Bora LyondellBasell Petrochemical Co. Ltd.’s (Bora)(1) 1,000 kta(2) ethylene plant has met performance promises, according to Technip Energies. The patented technology and process design for the liquid ethylene plant in Panjin, Liaoning Province, China, were given by Technip Energies.
Bora ethylene cracker is one of China’s largest liquid ethylene facilities. The facility was finished and operational in 39 months from the start of the process design package, and it generated on-spec output 42 hours after the feed-in. It meets the feed and raw material consumption, production rate and product criteria, as well as the anticipated specific energy consumption. It will achieve its intended capacity quickly after the start-up and performance promises are fulfilled if all performance guarantees are met.
“We are quite satisfied with the performance of the Bora cracker,” said Stan Knez, Chief Technology Officer of Technip Energies. This is an excellent illustration of how we can use our established ethylene technology to increase energy efficiency and minimise CO2 emissions.” (1) Bora is a 50-50 joint venture between LyondellBasell Industries NV and Liaoning Bora Enterprise Group. (2) KTA stands for kilo tonnes per annum.
