Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha Friday inaugurated the Showroom cum Interpretation Centre at Government Woolen Mill, Bemina, constructed under the World Bank-funded Jhelum Tawi Flood Recovery Project, with the goal of giving a decisive push to the expansion of the Woolen sector in the UT (JTRFP).
The first phase of the JTFRP project’s Showroom and Interpretation Centre was constructed at a cost of Rs 4.25 crores. The new centre will provide a direct market for 80,000 Kgs of locally produced wool each year, helping 1600 sheep-rearing families in J&K. Lt Governor urged officers to work hard and devise a thorough plan to promote local woollen goods at the fair.

The World Bank-funded Jhelum Tawi Flood Recovery Project has restored the Government Woolen Mill Bemina in Jammu. A new Government Silk Factory in Rajbagh, equipped with cutting-edge preparation, weaving, and finishing technology, will be finished shortly, benefiting 3000 cocoon-rearing families. Jammu has already opened an Experience Centre and a Sales Outlet for promotion and marketing of JKI products.
