Despite being an agricultural country, Pakistan has the highest rates for cotton, cotton yarn, electricity, water, labour, port, and transportation when compared to all other textile exporters in the globe, according to an industry representative on Tuesday.
“The textile industry produces more than 60% of total national exports, earns the most foreign cash, and employs the most people; nevertheless, it continues to receive little government attention,” said Jawed Bilwani, head of the Pakistan Apparel Forum, in a statement.
He advised the government to prioritise cotton production, cultivation area, and cotton yield in order to support the whole value-added textile chain, because cotton and cotton yarn were essential raw materials for the survival and development of the textile export sector.
