As global clothing demand picks up in 2021 after a disastrous 2020 owing to the pandemic, China, the world’s top manufacturing location, has benefitted from the improvement in business attitudes.
Garments provided US $ 59.28 billion to the overall value, while accessories contributed US $ 12.25 billion. In June of this year, the cargo increased by 24.21 percent year on year and was valued at US $ 15.15 billion. It is worth mentioning that June remained China’s best month in terms of clothing and accessory export value in 2021, surpassing the previous peak – US $ 12.19 billion – set in May ’21.
On the one hand, garment exports are continuing to rise; on the other hand, China’s textile exports are declining.
According to official data, China’s textile exports fell 7.40% year on year to US $ 68.56 billion in H1 ’21, a reduction of around US $ 5.50 billion from the figure recorded in H1 ’20.
