With the announcement of the revised rates under the Rebate on Duties and Taxes on Export Products (RoDTEP) programme by the Centre, textile exporters anticipate an increase in order volumes underpinned by improved cost-competitiveness. According to the revised rates, RoDTEP extends a 2.5 percent to 4.5 percent incentive on the export of various types of yarn and textiles.
Even though limitations have been put on procurement price to be able to reap the advantage, exporters in the textile business claim that the rebate will definitely enhance their cost-competitiveness.
Indian exporters will now be able to offer a competitive price to their customers, industry players say. The move comes at the right time, when exporters can leverage the demand for yarn, fabric as well as garments from various countries. Industry estimates suggest that the textile sector and its ancillaries provide employment to an estimated 75 lakh persons across Gujarat.
