India is working to introduce a production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme for the chemicals sector to raise domestic production, according to minister of state for chemicals and fertilizers Mansukh Mandaviya, who recently said there are immense opportunities for the industry and the government is working to ensure to provide all necessary support.
He said after supplying medicines to 120 countries, no country has complained of inferior quality medicine.
DV Sadananda Gowda, The union minister of handling the same portfolio, said the government is working on a consultative approach in forming the policies for the chemicals and petrochemicals sector.
Both were addressing a webinar on ‘Implementation Strategy of Budget Announcement 2021-22‘, organised by the department of chemicals & petrochemicals and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI).
The speciality chemicals sector in India has been one of the few sectors that remained largely unfazed by the ongoing slowdown, Gowda was quoted as sayng by a FICCI press release.
