Biotech engineers of USA have invented a glove-like device which can translate American Sign Language in English speech in real-time using a smartphone. These gloves are comprised of thin, stretchable sensors that spread inside each section of the gloves. These sensors help to identify and translating language.
These gloves are made from lightweight and inexpensive, stretchable polymers. A team of the University of California – Los Angeles is working on this project. The researchers also added adhesive sensors to testers’ faces — in between their eyebrows and on one side of their mouths — to capture facial expressions that are a part of American Sign Language.
