In addition to the brand’s signature offerings across garments, organics, home and personal care, the experience centre at Kolkata houses a FabCafé, an interior design studio, organic wellness centre, alteration studio and a kids’ zone.
Home and lifestyle brand Fabindia is set to expand its retail footprint in eastern India with 10 new stores. Speaking to TOI, its MD Viney Singh said they are focusing on franchisees and, as such, the stores will mostly be franchise-owned. This is the first such facility offered by the company in Eastern India. At present, it has 13 experience centres across India. “The centre in Kolkata is spread across 10,000 sqft. The typical investment for such centres is Rs 3,000-Rs 3,500/sqft. We plan to open 40 more experience centres in Kolkata, one of which will be in Kolkata,” Singh added while speaking at the opening of Fabindia’s experience centre at Loudon Street. Singh said an experience centre usually rakes in over Rs 1 crore per month in revenue. “By the end of this year, 30% of our retail space will be occupied by experience centres,” Singh said. In addition to the brand’s signature offerings across garments, organics, home and personal care, the experience centre at Kolkata houses a FabCafé, an interior design studio, organic wellness centre, alteration studio and a kids’ zone. Fabindia currently has 298 retail stores across 105 cities in India and 14 locations abroad. As many as 45 retail stores are in eastern India, of which 15 are in Kolkata. Of the 10 new stores, three-four outlets will be opened in Kolkata, Singh said. “Around 100 stores will be across India by the end of this fiscal,” he added.
