A deep-sea wastewater discharge pipeline is needed, according to associations of industrial units operating in 11 industrial clusters in and around the city. Industries in the city that produce chemicals and textiles have stated that they are willing to contribute to the cost of a pipeline with a discharge point far from the proposed Kalpsar project.
They merely request that the government extend the deadline for payment. The textile cluster in Narol has chosen not to participate in the project. The project’s requirement was 350 million litres per day (MLD) in 2019, however it is presently just 290 MLD.
In order to push for the deep-sea discharge project for Ahmedabad, representatives of the Gujarat Dyestuffs Manufacturers’ Association (GDMA) met with chief minister Bhupendra Patel on Wednesday. The deep-sea discharge pipeline is required by Ahmedabad’s chemical and textile facilities, according to GDMA President Haresh Bhuta in the representation. 3,200 or so units from 12 industrial clusters joined the project as of 2019. Currently, 3,050 units in 11 clusters wish to move forward.
