Indian exporters have urged the Government to clear Rebate of State and Central Taxes and Levies (ROSCTL) pending claims expediently, as India’s apparel (woven + knitwear) export from 1 January 2021 to 31 August 2021 is estimated to be Rs. 75,250 crore, and the RoSCTL pending claim to the apparel sector is in the region of Rs. 3,750 crore.
Raja M. Shanmugham, President, Tirupur Exporters’ Association (TEA) made a representation to M. Ajit Kumar, Chairman, Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC), to help for receipt of RoSCTL benefits, which is pending since 1 January 2021.
Raja said though the Government has notified for continuation of RoSCTL on export of apparel and made-ups with same rates on 13 August 2021, the RoSCTL pending claims have not been addressed till today.
He pointed out that Tirupur export sector, comprising 95 per cent of the units in MSME category, has got impacted due to the second wave of the pandemic and is really struggling to meet their statutory financial commitments every month.
“I am hopeful that the ongoing issue would be resolved soon as the Central Government is now focussing more on the growth of exports and on achieving the target of US $ 400 billion in the current financial year,” said Raja.
