Book on Odisha state’s tasar silk history released.

‘Divine Fabric’, a book documenting the tasar silk tradition of Odisha state by Raja Parija, a government official, was released recently in capital Bhubaneswar by the state’s minister of handlooms, textiles and handicrafts Padmini Dian. The author, who has experience in the state’s sericulture sector, offers tasar’s historical background.

The book is expected to useful for textile scholars, fashion designers, students and craftsmen, according to media reports in the state. Tasar, traditionally called ‘mathaa’ in Odia, never fades.
