The common stance of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Federation of Textile Industries (AFTEX) on the rule of origin for garments for the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership, a mega free trade agreement between ASEAN, China, India, South Korea, Japan, Australia and New Zealand, was one of the key points discussed during a recent meeting.

The two-day meeting in Phnom Penh was organised by the Garment Manufacturers Association of Cambodia (GMAC) to discuss problems like how to value-add and lower production costs, according to a Cambodian newspaper report. Van Sou Ieng, GMAC and AFTEX Cambodia president stressed on the need for collaboration among member nations.
