The GEC Textile Award 2022 has been created by the Global Entrepreneurship Centre (GEC), a competition to identify innovation with transformative potential for a more sustainable textile world.
Entrepreneurs with a technical development level more than Technical Readiness Level (TRL) 5, as specified by the European Commission’s Horizon 2020 initiative, are eligible to apply.
Fashion textiles and technical textiles are the two categories in the competition, which will be judged on the following criteria: commercial viability, global climate targets, innovation, market potential, and partnerships.
Three winners will be chosen, with the first prize at 200,000 euros, the second prize worth 100,000 euros, and the third prize worth 50,000 euros.
The deadline for applications is December 31, 2021, and the competition winner will be revealed on March 6, 2022.
