Apparel exporters in Noida are urging the government to prohibit the export of raw cotton

The Noida Clothing Export Clusters (NAEC) has requested a full restriction on the export of raw Indian cotton and yarns in order to stimulate output in the local apparel sector. In this manner, finished items may be exported worldwide to generate additional money.
NAEC President Lalit Thukral said situation for readymade garments industry has worsened due to pandemic. Garments production was halted for four months between March and June 2020. Cotton Textile Export Promotion Council appealed to the Union Textile Minister Piyush Goyal to remove the Customs Duty on cotton. India is one of the largest exporters of Cotton in the world. Recently India exported 21 lakh bales of cotton to China out of total cotton exports of 58.43 lakh bale.
