The Foundation for MSME Clusters (FMC), in collaboration with CITI, successfully hosted the 8th FMC Award for Responsible BMOs (Textiles and Apparels) at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. The event celebrated the outstanding contributions of Business Membership Organizations (BMOs) in fostering sustainable, socially responsible, and inclusive growth in the MSME sector.

This year, over 130 BMOs representing 40,000 MSMEs participated, showcasing best practices in sustainable business models. The event was graced by Hon’ble Minister of State for Textiles, Mr. Pabitra Margherita, as the Chief Guest.

Promoting Green Environment – Haryana Environmental Management Society (HEMS)
- Established in 2004, HEMS represents 4,550 industrial units across Haryana.
- Recognized for its initiatives in environmental awareness, sustainable waste management, and eco-conscious industrial practices.
- Developed a Common Treatment, Storage, and Disposal Facility (TSDF) in Faridabad, improving hazardous waste disposal and regulatory compliance.
Promoting Social Issues – Indian Textile Accessories and Machinery Manufacturers Association (ITAMMA)
- Established in 1943, representing 405 enterprises in Maharashtra.
- Awarded for the B.K. Mehta Technology Networking Mission – 2030, a transformative initiative promoting textile engineering innovation, industry-academia collaboration, and employment generation.

Promoting Green Environment – Jayadev Banana Farmers and Artisans Association
- Recognized for their Banana Fibre and Bio-Fertilizer initiative, reducing reliance on synthetic yarn and chemical fertilizers.
Promoting Social Issues – Nitya Sangha Mahila SHG Cooperative Society
- Honored for facilitating bank loans to Self-Help Groups (SHGs), driving women empowerment and financial inclusion.
Upcoming Textile Recycling Initiative with Switch Asia EU
In a major step towards sustainability, FMC, with support from Switch Asia – European Union, is advancing textile recycling clusters in India.
- India processes 2 million tons of textile waste annually, with Panipat, Bhojpur, and Amroha handling 60% of this waste.
- The initiative aims to transform Panipat into a global hub for sustainable textiles, with a Digital Product Passport ensuring transparency in textile waste management.
- Key focus areas include technology upgrades, skill enhancement, and green financing solutions, benefiting 14,800 MSMEs and 250,000 workers.
Additionally, FMC, with support from HSBC and the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, is implementing a decarbonization project in Panipat to enhance traceability, resource efficiency, and profitability in textile recycling MSMEs.
