70000 CA members take part as ICAI celebrates International Day of Yoga at 200 locations

On the occasion of the 5th International Day of Yoga, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) responding to the call of Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi, to inculcate the ancient tradition to holistic health and well-being, celebrated 5th International Day of Yoga on June 21st 2019.

CAs across the world came together at over 200 Centres of ICAI and participated with their families to spread the message of better health, peace and harmony not only in India but also throughout the world through the practice of Yoga. Around 70000 CAs along with their families participated in the event across the country and outside.

At Delhi, the Yoga camps were organized by ICAI at four locations. The camps were attended by more than a 1000 CA members, students and local residents.

Speaking on the occasion CA. Prafulla P. Chhajed, President, ICAI said “The complexity of modern life has greatly challenged our ability to lead a healthy life. Stress has reached a point of great concern. We at ICAI, is conscious of work life balance and firmly believe in balancing mind and body to reduce stress. Yoga can harness an individual’s inner & physical strength.”

He further added “All our CA members and families participated with great enthusiasm today in International Day of Yoga.  I firmly believe that we should not promote Yoga only one day but to make it a part and parcel of everyday life, its practice is a never ending process.”

Atul Kumar Gupta, Vice-President, ICAIsaid “In order to maintain a balance between the professional work life & health, daily practice of Yoga is essential.The habit of practicing Yoga must be cultivated in our daily lives to enjoy the work life balance. Today, CA Members, Students & their families participated in mass Yoga sessions to reap the benefit of Yoga.”

ICAI has been participating & celebrating International Day of Yoga since 2015 by involving the CA fraternity through its Regional Councils, Branches & overseas chapters spread across the globe. Though ICAI is making tremendous contribution to the business and industry for the growth and development of Indian economy, however, the ICAI has always supported government flagship programmes from time to time and has been taking several initiatives for general societal benefit in line with its tradition as partner in nation-building.
