This national handloom’s day India’s Women’s Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (WICCI) launched its National Handloom Council. The council will crucially focus on conservation and patenting the the regional indigenous weaves and patterns as mentioned by national vice president of WICCI Alakananda Das said. she also adds up by saying the knowledge and aspects of traditional weaving from different regions will be injected into the youth awareness and educational curriculum by conducting seminars, workshops, documentation and rigorous research activities.
The council explains the core reason behind its decision is strengthening of women’s voice and also to uphold women’s interest in policy making at multiple levels and to assist women have a better access to finance and empowerment related goals which could empower them and can also provide a better stand in the society.
