I am glad that this year SRTEPC is organising “Export Award Function” along with “Source India 2022” in Surat and it is a historic day for the Manmade fibre textile sector. “Source India” organised by SRTEPC has been a mega event and provides tremendous opportunity for Indian companies to meet global buyers. As I am informed SRTEPC invited around 75 sponsored buyers from around 40 countries. I am sure the buyers who have come to attend Source India 2022 in Surat will be able to finalise their requirements and can create win-win situation. Since this event is coinciding with the Award Function, this is a unique opportunity for the invited buyers to meet all the leading manufacturing and exporting companies and vice versa.

During the event the Synthetic and Rayon Textiles Export Promotion Council is honouring two stalwarts with lifetime achievements and awarding the best performing Member-exporters.

I congratulate Shri Sanjeev Saran and Shri Dilip Gaur who have for their magnanimous contribution to the Manmade fibre textiles segment. I must mention that you both are achieving the lifetime achievements but not retiring. Instead, both of your responsibilities to guide the industry have just begun now. I am sure, you will keep supporting the industry for further growth and development.

Today, manmade fibres dominate global fibre consumption with around 70% share whereas the share of Natural fibre is only 30%. In India however natural fibre namely cotton is dominated fibre, though consumption of Man-made fibres in India is steadily increasing as there is huge scope for Manmade fibre segment both in India and globally.

In order to strengthen the MMF segment, The Government has approved the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme for Textiles, with an approved outlay of Rs 10,683 crore, to promote production of MMF Apparel, MMF Fabrics and Products of Technical Textiles in the country to enable Textile sector to achieve size and scale and to become competitive.

The Government has approved setting up of Seven PradhanMantri Mega Integrated Textile Region and Apparel (PM MITRA) Parks in Greenfield/Brownfield sites with an outlay of Rs. 4,445 crore for a period of seven years upto 2027-28. The scheme of Rebate of State and central Taxes and Levies (RoSCTL) effective from March 2019 has been continued till 31st March 2024 for Exports of Apparel / Garments and made-ups in order to make the textile sector competitive in international market.

Government has allocated an outlay of Rs.1000 Crores for advance research and innovation in Technical Textiles at par with the best in the world.

In addition, Government is implementing various schemes viz the Amended Technology Upgradation Fund Scheme (A-TUFS), Schemes for the development of the Powerloom Sector(Power-Tex), Scheme for Integrated Textile Parks (SITP),SAMARTH- The Scheme for Capacity Building in Textile Sector, etc. for attracting investments and upgradation of skills in the Textiles sector.

SRTEPC has been spearheading the promotion of Man-made Fibre Textiles in the overseas markets through its various export promotional programmes and has been successful in projecting lndia as a reliable consistent source of quality products. These programmes have resulted in tremendous growth in the exports of Man-made Fibre Textile products across the value chain. I trust that the Council will continue to put forth manifold efforts to enable us to collectively achieve the target of US$400 Billion plus exports by 3lMarch 2022.

I take this opportunity to applaud the Council and congratulate the award winners for achieving excellence in export performance. I am confident that the success of the awardees will motivate other member exporters to emerge as winners next year. I extend my best wishes to SRTEPC and its member exporters.
