The Handloom market in Sambalpur, Odisha has not been immune to the deadly virus effect. The pandemic has caused adverse effect on the overall turnover of the Sambalpuri Bastralaya Handloom society. According to the reports an average turnover of around 20 crore in March and june last year. This has descended to 10.41 crore during the same time this year. All the 40 outlets spread across the state stalled to make adequate business this year. Since the lockdown which began on 25th of march till may 3rd the Handloom society was closed. Even though the unlocking process has started there are only very few customers due to the shutting downs, as said by Hemanta Kumar Mishra, the marketing officer of the Handloom Co-operative Society.
