Smt. Darshana Jardosh, Union State Minister of Railways and Textiles inaugurated the new IDT Vesu Campus on 11 June with the presence of dignitaries like Arvind Shah (Director, Fairdeal Filaments Ltd.), Rajnikant S. Bachkaniwala (Chairman, MANTRA), Dr. Raichurkar (Director, MANTRA), Rupal Shah (Social Activist), Dipanbhai Desai (Corporator, SMC) and many others.
Institute of Design and Technology (IDT) is Surat’s leading design institute providing courses in Fashion and Interior Design. On this auspicious occasion, they also launched their new course on Technical Textiles in association with MANTRA- Man-made Textiles Research Association. Smt Darshana Jardosh launched the course and agreed that an infusion of technology is important in the textile industry going forward. She congratulated IDT and Mantra for their upcoming fashion show- FASHIONOVA 2022 on the theme of sustainability as she also believes that shifting to sustainability is the need of the hour in the fashion and textile industry. She admired the collection of IDT students on Sanjhi Art- a forgotten craft form from Mathura.
Mr. Arvind Shah also shared his valuable words with the audience and appreciated the work of IDT and MANTRA. Dr RS Bachkaniwala, President of MANTRA, spoke on this ocassion and impressed upon the students to learn the importance of Technical Textiles value chain for textile industry’s growth in the country and make use of the facilities of MANTRA. He called upon the industries to support industrial training. Ankita Goyal, Director of IDT also presented the vision and future plans of IDT.
