Chinese hand-knotted carpet costs decrease by 11% to $9.4/sqm.

Price of Chinese Knotted Carpet Export in June 2023

The price of a knotted carpet in June 2023 was $9.4 per square meter (FOB, China), which was a decrease of -11.3% from the previous month. Overall, the export price still shows a slight decline. The average export price climbed by 42% in December 2022 compared to the previous month, which marked the month with the fastest growth. The export price thus rose to its highest level of $12,080 per thousand square meters. The average export prices remained down from January 2023 to June 2023.

For the primary external markets, the average prices varied substantially. The United States had the highest price in June 2023 ($9.0 per square meter), while Malaysia had one of the lowest average prices ($6.9 per square meter).

The most noticeable rate of price growth between June 2022 and June 2023 was observed for goods going to Malaysia (-2.1%), while prices for the other major destinations fell.

China Knotted Carpet Export Prices by Type 

For the main categories of exported goods, there were pronounced price variations. Carpets and other knotted textile floor coverings made of textile materials (other than wool or fine animal hair), whether or not made up, had the highest price in June 2023 ($9.8 per square meter), while the average export price for products made of knotted wool or fine animal hair, whether or not made up, was $8.9 per square meter.

The types of goods with the greatest noticeable rate of price growth between June 2022 and June 2023 were carpets and other textile floor coverings that were knotted from textile materials (other than wool or fine animal hair), whether or not they were made up (-0.2%).
