The Indian government has eliminated the mandatory QCO from FDY low melt polyester yarn. Specialty polyester yarn is imported from China and is not produced in India. The Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SGCCI) has suggested several times that this yarn’s required QCO be removed.

Recently, in New Delhi, SGCCI President Mr. Vijay Mewawala met with Hon’ble Textiles Minister Mr. Giriraj Singh and gave a presentation on this subject. In a notification dated July 18, 2024, the Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals, Government of India, announced that all varieties of FDY low melt polyester yarn would no longer be subject to required QCO. Many kinds of technical textiles are produced using the FDY low melt polyester yarn.
