In continuation of my previous email, today I am writing to share with you the export performance of the top 31-60 apparel products in 6 digit HS-code level with a few comparative analyses.
Among the 30 products, the major items were men or boys MMF woven overcoats, car-coats, capes, cloaks, anoraks, men or boys non-cotton woven shirts, women or girls cotton knitted blouses, women or girls MMF woven overcoats, car-coats, capes, cloaks, anoraks, women or girls cotton woven jackets & blazers, men or boys cotton woven jackets & blazers, women or girls woven of rubberised or coated fabrics etc. I am sending you the detail data-sheet in the attachment where you can find the 30 items with their export value and growth. In 2022, the export earnings from other major items such women or girls MMF woven overcoats, car-coats, capes, cloaks, anoraks, women or girls cotton woven jackets & blazers, men or boys cotton woven jackets & blazers, women or girls woven of rubberised or coated fabrics, M/B synthetic knitted trousers, woven Clothing accessories, men or boys cotton knitted pyjamas, women or girls cotton knitted coats, men or boys non cotton woven trouser, women or girls synthetic woven jackets & blazers, women or girls MMF knitted briefs were 197.8mn, 191mn, 189.92mn, 187.99mn, 180.26mn, 169.78mn, 157.77mn, 151.25mn, 146.87mn, 143.29mn and 139.92mn dollars respectively.
As per our analysis, export earnings from these 30 items was USD2.07 billion in 2020 which rose to USD 2.69 billion in 2021. In 2022.the export earnings from these 30 items was further increased by 59.25% and reached 4.28 billion dollars. These 30 products hold 9.38% share of the total apparel export earnings of Bangladesh.
If we consider the individual product-wise export among these 30 products, the highest exportable apparel item of Bangladesh was men or boys MMF woven overcoats. In 2022, Bangladesh exported 216.49 million dollar worth of cotton knitted babies’ garments to the world while in 2020 and 2021 we didn’t export this items.
The 2nd top item was men or boys non cotton woven shirts. In 2022 the export of this item grew by 88.57% to 209.72 million dollars from 111.22 million dollars in 2021. Also in 2021, the global import of men or boys non cotton woven shirts was 990.17 million dollars while the share of Bangladesh was 11.23%.
At the same time, the earnings from women or girls cotton knitted blouses the 3rd item of this data series increased by 50.63% in 2022 compared to 2021. We exported 205.66 million dollars’ worth women or girls cotton knitted blouses to the world in 2022. The share of this particular item in global import was 7.48% in 2021.
