Krishnamurthy Sirna, a name synonymous with tradition and innovation in the textile industry, embarked on his entrepreneurial journey during his school holidays. Working alongside his brothers in the bustling cloth market of Hyderabad, he honed his skills as a helper, salesman, and eventually, a visionary entrepreneur.

What began as a modest venture during festivals and holidays soon evolved into a thriving business. The Sirna brothers would buy fabrics wholesale and sell them in instalments to friends and family in various regions. Their keen understanding of regional festivals, such as Onam in Kerala and Sankranthi in the Telugu states, ensured they catered to specific market needs.

Krishnamurthy’s formal entry into the market came with the introduction of ‘Status,’ a brand that revolutionised the concept of ethnic wear. At a time when suiting and shirtings dominated the market, ‘Status’ offered readymade garments that catered to the growing desire for traditional attire.

Building upon his success, Krishnamurthy pioneered the concept of ‘Brand Street’ in Dilsukhnagar, a retail destination that brought together several international brands under one roof. This innovative approach set a new standard for shopping experiences in the city.

Beyond business, Krishnamurthy’s commitment to tradition and community is evident in his creation of ‘Mangala Gowri Silks.’ Inspired by the spiritual significance of temples, he designed the store to resemble a sacred space, complete with a temple façade, priest, and rituals.

Krishnamurthy’s dedication to social responsibility is equally commendable. Every customer, regardless of purchase, receives a copy of the Bhagavad Gita and a Tulasi plant. He actively promotes water conservation and environmental awareness through initiatives like water harvesting pits and bore recharge.

Innovation has been a driving force behind Krishnamurthy’s success. He has collaborated with weavers across India to create unique designs and expand his product range. Mangala Gowri Silks has grown into a multi-brand destination, offering a wide variety of garments for men, women, and children.

With over 700 employees and hundreds of weavers under his leadership, Krishnamurthy Sirna continues to shape the textile industry. His ability to introduce new trends, coupled with his commitment to quality, customer service, and tradition, has made Mangala Gowri a beloved brand among customers from far and wide.
