- Approximately 1-3 months later: Anticipate receiving an I-797 Notice of Approval letter and an EAD card at your designated mailing address. If you’ve e-filed, the notice will also be accessible in your USCIS account. These items may arrive separately or together. Review all details on your EAD card and inform your DSO accordingly. Once received, you are authorized to commence work on the specified start date. In case of any errors on the EAD, consult your DSO adviser. - 2 weeks after EAD card reception: Expect to receive your Social Security Card by mail if you have requested it.
How to Track my OPT Application Case?
Opting for e-filing provides you with the opportunity to track your Case Status via your USCIS online account. Note that your application is anticipated to remain in the received status during the processing period until it obtains approval. Will the days of pending EAD count towards my OPT unemployment period?
