Officials predict that the government will continue to offer the enlarged duty waiver programme to exporters after the deadline in September, easing the burden on the chemical, steel, and pharmaceutical industries.

The Remission of Duties and Taxes on Exported Products (RoDTEP) programme was expanded to include pharmaceuticals, chemicals, and specific steel items in December of last year.

The additional products were only eligible for tax refunds up until September 30, 2023, according to the commerce department’s rules. The department needed to know if it had enough budgeted spending to cover the tax rebate for the entire fiscal year 2023–2024.
