Filatex India, one of India’s major makers of polyester filament yarn, has authorised plans to enhance poly-condensation capacity by 50 TPD, as well as new manufacturing facilities for 120 TPD of polyester partially oriented yarn at its Dahej facility in Gujarat.
Filatex claims that no new land or infrastructure for raw material feeding will be required, resulting in significant capital cost reductions. The anticipated capital expenditure expansion programme is about Rs. 130 crores, which would be paid for through foreign currency term loans and internal accruals. The construction duration is estimated to be around 12 months, as opposed to the 24 months necessary for a green field project.
Filatex plans to replace two current POY lines with new improved lines, as well as replace winders in one POY line with new winders. At its Dadra factory, the company now has a net capacity of 110 TPD for yarn manufacture. This planned project would enhance the plant’s POY capacity by 5 TPD while also improving the quality of the yarn produced. The execution time is estimated to be between six and eight months.
