Textile manufacturing is returning to Europe. Aside from shorter lead times and greater flexibility, this new trend reduces CO2 emissions by reducing goods transport. Polylana® yarn is now available as “made in Europe,” with the first two spinners being Alpes Filati (Italy) and Karacasu Tekstil (Turkey).

Despite a challenging year, the Polylana® fibre team has managed to gain public recognition. By producing an innovative eco-efficient imitation fur option and offering a unique knitting fibre blend that is less damaging than acrylic while preserving its fantastic feel, the Dutch start-up made a big impact. Today, Polylana® fiber has its eyes set on the European market, by partnering up with professional European yarn spinners.

The Movement, a Dutch cleantech business, has always had a long-term goal of expanding its network of Polylana® yarn spinners. Aside from the primary output in Asia, Europe is poised to become the next textile boom. The Movement needed to find nominated spinning parners for Polylana® yarn in order to make Polylana® yarn available to European knitters.

The team is proud about working with new European spinners such as Alpes Filati and Karacasu Tekstil. Alpes, based off in Northern Italy and represent one of the largest group within the European yarn market. They are now specialized in Polylana® fiber with wool blends. Karacasu Tekstil has been a staple of Turkish textile since 1996, however it is their dedication towards sustainability that has linked them to Polylana® fiber. They are themselves, specialized in yarn from Polylana® fiber with cotton-blend.

The Polylana® fibre team intends to increase the reach of its eco-friendly Polylana® knitting yarn by expanding their spinner network to new coastlines, allowing businesses and retailers to buy and create more locally than ever before. Think global act local.
