Schneider Group Unveils Historic Superfine Argentinian Vicuña

After nearly two decades of relentless research, the Schneider Group has unveiled the first-ever bale of Superfine Argentinian Vicuña — a record-breaking luxury fibre of unmatched softness, fineness, and sustainability. Known as the “Fiber of the Gods,” vicuña wool has long symbolized elite textile craftsmanship, once worn exclusively by Incan royalty.

This remarkable achievement delivers a fibre with an extraordinary fineness of just 11.7 microns and a length of 29.3 mm, surpassing all known benchmarks in fine animal fibres. It’s the culmination of 18 years of manual fibre selection by skilled artisans who employed precision tools and years of expertise.

More than just a luxurious material, this bale represents ethical excellence. The Schneider Group has worked hand-in-hand with Argentinian communities to grow the local vicuña population from under 800 to over 5,000, while supporting traditional craftsmanship and donating part of the fibre harvest to benefit local artisans.

“This fibre is not only our proudest creation — it’s a symbol of sustainability, precision, and passion,” said the Schneider Group. The company’s commitment to ecological responsibility, animal welfare, and community empowerment sets a new global standard for luxury and ethics in the textile world.

This launch redefines excellence and poses one exciting question: which visionary brand will be the first to bring this rare fibre to market?
