The two business executives will work together to achieve commercial scale manufacturing of high-quality viscose fibres from up to 10,000 tonnes of Renewcell’s 100 percent textile recycled material Circulose each year. The partnership sets the path for a fully European closed loop in which textile waste is stored, reused, and regenerated into new Circulose fibres for those who want to dramatically minimise their fashion footprint. “The European fashion industry has a significant global impact on climate and the environment.” It also contributes to vast quantities of rubbish being disposed of in landfills and incinerators in Europe and elsewhere following export. “We will now collaborate with Kelheim to eliminate the waste requirement for natural materials, while also providing a totally regional supply of low intensity circular fibres for textiles,” says Renewcell CEO Patrik Lundström.
