World Textile Information Network (WTiN), the textile & apparel value chain’s leading information provider, has officially launched its innovative Fibre Hub, on WTiN.com, a new interactive tool that provides fibre pricing data for traditional and emerging materials.

WTiN has long provided fibre and ingredient pricing data to the textile & apparel industry and is now upgrading the offering through an interactive tool on WTiN.com. In addition to the existing price data for fibres including polyester, cotton, viscose, acrylic, wool and speciality fibres (such as yak and mohair) the Fibre Hub will offer users:

  • Price data on emerging materials including biomaterials
  • CO2e data for fibre types, as well as land and water usage data (provided in our upcoming partnership with product environmental footprint company, Peftrust®)
  • Data analytics tools to assist users R&D, product development and marketing

Mark Jarvis, managing director at WTiN, says: “The Fibre Hub is an upgraded offering from our fibre price reports produced in PDF format only. Updated with new price data on a weekly basis, the Fibre Hub on WTiN.com allows users to examine trends and pricing data of fibres in a variety of supply chains and assess key markets.

“Including emerging fibres such as hemp, flax, jute, cupro and man-made cellulosic fibres such as lyocell to our dataset will allow users to capitalise on these new, often more sustainable fibres.”

He continues: “What’s more, our upcoming partnership with Peftrust will enable our users to be more informed on the decisions they make within their product development. Whilst we do not anticipate this to replace life cycle assessment analysis, it is an important complimentary offering to those requiring surface level information on environmental footprint.”

PEFtrust gives brands the keys to consistently measure and compare the environmental footprint of apparel and footwear products, substantiating green claims. With WTiN’s global reach, we look forward to expanding our work with key brands and retailers across the global supply chain.”
