INNOVATIVE FIBRES LURE MANY AT SURAT YARN EXPO

The Yarn Expo 2022 was organised at the International Exhibition and Convention Centre in Surat by the South Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry and South Gujarat Chamber Trade and Industries Development Centre. The Expo was held over a span of three days and attracted a footfall of over 15,000 visitors. The event showed a promise to generate revenues of over Rs. 650-crore in the next six months. The exhibitors are expecting very good profits in the upcoming year as the advanced bookings for the fifth edition of the Yarn Expo have already begun in full swing.

Himanshu Bodawala, President of the Chamber, said that the Union Minister of Textiles, Mr Piyush Goyal, has given the textile industry a target of raising US$250 billion and that this Yarn Expo will aid in achieving this target. The expo saw various businessmen exhibiting different types of yarn of polyester, nylon, viscose, cotton, etc. Moreover, various industries involved in knitting and weaving businesses also showcased their range of products.

Other products that were on display included anti-microbial yarns, imitated silk yarns, zero-impact yarns, granite yarns, recycled yarns, eco-gold biodegradable yarns, fire-resistant yarns, cool text yarns for sports wearand many more. The exhibitors provided extensive information on these new variety of yarns that they put on display.

He further said, ‘There were a lot of queries for Fancy Zari Yarns and special yarns used for exquisite brocade work. The yarn expo saw many fabric and garment merchandisers along with the regular weavers and knitters. Many people from different industries visited the stalls and took information about the variety of products that they had.

These customers were inclined towards buying samples of yarns and then developing new garments from it. Many new products would be developed from the yarn samples sold at the expo. These products can then be exported to various other countries as well.’

The exhibitors from the expo are expecting a rise of 10% in the turnover in the coming year and are also expecting a business of Rs. 650 crore to take place. The expo saw visitors from Algeria, Sudan and Egypt in the three days. There were also a lot of local visitors and visitors from all over the country. There were around 3,400 buyers on the first day, 7,000 buyers on the second day and 4,800 buyers on the final day of the expo.
