Moore Maxxam, a UK-based clothing company, has revealed that as part of its Eco Pledge to become entirely regenerative and sustainable, it will convert all of its kids Maxxam fabric designs to an over 50% recycled edition.
All designs will be made using Q-NOVA by Fulgar, an environmentally sustainable nylon 6.6 fibre obtained from regenerated raw materials and certified by Global Recycled Standard. The product aims to reduce CO2 emissions, consume less water, and use renewable energy.
The Moore Maxxam Eco Pledge outlines the brand’s manufacturing commitment and ethical brand ethos:
-Using an over 50% recycled nylon, made by upcycling waste nylon yarn for the fabric and recycled polyester yarn for the labels
-Every garment has longevity because it is made from durable, high-quality fabric, that stretches to fit around children for years of growth
-There is less need to buy more clothing with multi-activity styles that children can use for swimming, dance class, playtime, and casual wear
-Each part of the making process, starting from the knitting of the fabric, through to the garments’ sewing is made locally in England
– Moore Maxxam is constantly working on more sustainable/regenerative ways of manufacturing clothing, creating textiles, and adapting the day to day running of the brand
Iona Clive, co-founder of Moore Maxxam says: “Making a product sustainable is more challenging than some might think. There are many obstacles from sourcing the right yarn, to availability for purchase, to it being created into a product that is up to our standards. After a lot of hard work from our passionate team, we can finally announce our over 50% recycled fabric – still keeping our designs just as soft and affordable for all. It means we are one step closer to our products being fully regenerative. Using recycled yarn keeps less clothing out of landfills and lets out fewer toxic chemicals from the dyes and bleaches used on the textiles. Also, there is less pollution going into the atmosphere from the making of new yarn.”
The four-piece Mini Maxx range, available at www.mooremaxxam.com, includes a bodysuit, a playsuit, long shorts, and a vest top, all made of the seamless, stretchy MAXXAM fabric and built to be multi-activity so you can dance, swim, and play in them.
Just three sizes – small, medium, and large – stretch 14 years. The smallest size (6m – 3 years) is also designed for a perfect fit around a nappy.
Each style has been specially created for children and is available in three bright colours: Tang (a vivid orange), Sky (a striking blue), and Zest (a zesty yellow) (a very bright citrusy yellow). The amazing MAXXAM fabric is stretchy to the point of being able to double in size.
