The Ministry of Textiles Inspects Pulagurthi Fabric Items for ODOP Promotion

The inspection of Pulagurthi fabric items by the Ministry of Textiles team is aimed at promoting them under the One District One Product initiative.

On October 11, a team from the Union Ministry of Textiles, led by Harpreet Singh, the Project Coordinator of Invest India, conducted an inspection of cotton fabric items woven by handloom weavers belonging to the Pulagurthi Handloom Cooperative Society (PHCS). The purpose of this inspection was to facilitate the promotion of these products under the One District One Product (ODOP) initiative. The location under consideration is Anaparthy Mandal, situated in the East Godavari district.

The objective of the One District One Product (ODOP) initiative is to enhance marketing opportunities by promoting a distinctive product from each district within the country.

The core team has engaged in discussions with handloom weavers regarding the acquisition of cotton, the assortment of fabric types, and the production process. The presence of A.P. State Commissioner of Textiles K. Srikanth Prabhakar, East Godavari Joint Collector N. Tej Bharat, and various other authorities was observed.
