LVMH Mot Hennessy Louis Vuitton has formed a collaboration with the fabric recycling company Weturn, with the goal of providing its brands with a mechanism for handing over unwanted branded materials to be turned into spools of thread.
LVMH has partnered with start-up Nona Supply platform and trash collection business Cedre to make unsold items available to manufacturers. The move is consistent with the luxury firm’s Life 360 environmental initiative, said Hélène Valade, director of the environmental development division. “Our aim is to help to the rebirth of the European textile industry by demonstrating that the value of a product rests in its raw materials,” Wereturn’s founding father, renowned Sophie Pignères, stated.
LVMH has established a recycling network, connecting textile manufacturers with fashionable houses. LVMH intends to broaden customer services such as repair and sharpening, as well as upcycling and recycling valuable materials like leather and fur.
The company’s environmental programme seeks to extend the life of its products through repair services and, in the long run, deliver products with a low environmental imprint.
