The largest fabric and curtain store in the Netherlands, Jan Sikkes, has permanently closed all of its locations due to bankruptcy. On the Troostwijk Auctions platform, there will be 11 different online auctions with a total of 11 million linear metres of fabric up for bid. The Amersfoort Jan Sikkes branch’s merchandise and furniture are currently almost up for grabs. The auction ends at 10:00 a.m. on March 30, 2023, a Thursday.

With the help of three generations of Sikkes, the family firm Jan Sikkes, which was established in Workum in 1934, expanded to become one of the biggest fabric stores in the Netherlands. Because the business thinks that physical stores have a lot of power (‘You have to feel fabrics if you desire to select the finest option’), There are at least ten Jan Sikkes locations dispersed across the nation. All branches have been shut since the start of this year due to bankruptcy. For this reason, the furnishings and stocks of the textile industry will be auctioned on the internet platform of Troostwijk Auctions.

Around a million linear metres of fabric, including curtain fabric, fake leather, poplin in a variety of designs, twill cotton, bridal fabric, stretch fabric, French terry, jersey, and many other types, will be sold at auction in lots. In the near future, separate auctions will be held to sell the inventory of each location and the Jan Sikkes warehouse. It is unquestionably worthwhile for fabric dealers and other interested parties to attend these auctions. From 22 March, the goods and inventory from the warehouse will also be auctioned.
