Carrington Textiles, a maker of personal protective equipment (PPE), has announced that six of its flame retardant fabrics have been granted RU status for ‘flame resistant clothing for protection of industrial employees against short-duration thermal exposures from fire.’
The RU mark, or Recognized Component, is a status recognized by UL, a global safety certifying authority that is part of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
Carrington’s Flameshield 230 and 280 variants are among the goods recognized by the accreditation. These are claimed to be hardwearing, comfortable, and breathable for the frontline since they are made completely of cotton.
Carrington Textiles has been certified by the Fire Protection Agency as a fire-resistant flame-retardant workwear company. The Flame Tuff 220AS, 250AS and Satin 330AS are Carrington’s “next generation of stronger, tougher and more hardwearing” workwear. The Cordura-based Flametougher 280AS completes the set, and is said to embody the firm’s ‘next generation’ in terms of strength, tenacity and ultraviolet protection.
