Arvind Mills, one of India’s leading textile manufacturers, has transformed its labor-intensive and error-prone sampling process by implementing a cutting-edge fabric data warehouse. The company, known for its global client roster of high-street brands, faced challenges managing hundreds of paper sample books. Finding the right fabric swatch took time and often led to missed deadlines.

Arvind Mills turned to Bitscape, a Microsoft partner, to address these issues and participated in an ‘App in a Day’ workshop. The solution was a QR code system built on Microsoft Power Apps that digitized the entire sampling order lifecycle. By scanning the QR code, marketing managers like Raju Patni can instantly access textile specifications, timelines, and other vital information, streamlining the ordering process.

Power Apps, a suite of applications and services, enables rapid development of custom business applications without coding. It offers seamless integration with various data sources and real-time data insights, empowering employees to access information on the go. Arvind Mills has witnessed significant improvements since implementing Power Apps, with human errors in sampling down by 90%, production errors by 70%, and a 30% reduction in order turnaround time.

Microsoft’s Power Platform, including Power Apps, has successfully driven business outcomes for Wipro, Magicrete, Aditya Birla Capital, Piramal Capital & Housing Finance, and the State Bank of India. With its mobile capabilities and data integration, Power Apps paves the way for digital transformation in various industries. Arvind Mills is now exploring further applications of Power Apps, such as vendor portal creation and streamlining procurement processes.
