ITME Africa 2023: Unveiling Socio-Economic Progress through Textile Technology & Engineering

India ITME Society, the organizer of ITME Africa & Middle East 2023, recently hosted a Preview & Curtain Raiser program at the brand-new ITME Center in Nariman Point, Mumbai. The event aimed to provide a glimpse of the upcoming international exhibition scheduled to take place from 30th November to 2nd December 2023 in Nairobi, Kenya.

The Curtain Raiser & Preview program in Mumbai included presentations by eminent dignitaries and speakers who covered various topics related to the textile industry. Mr. Updeep Singh, an experienced textile professional, discussed the strength of the Indian Textile sector and how Africa can collaborate with India to lead the industry. Mr. Balvinder Singh Sawhney, from FICCI, highlighted the opportunities for India in Africa and how the exhibition can facilitate bilateral trade for the textile industry.

The event also focused on technical textiles and their future prospects. Mr. Pramod Khosla, Chairman & Managing Director of Khosla Profil Pvt. Ltd., shed light on the importance of technical textiles and their potential for infrastructure development in African countries. Mr Avinash Mayekar, Managing Director of Suvin, presented on the increasing business engagement between India and Africa in the textile segment since 2020.

ITME Africa & Middle East 2023 aims to provide a unique and valuable experience for all participants. Besides the 3-day exhibition, the event will host panel discussions and interactive sessions on technical and financial topics. These sessions will be conducted by renowned speakers and industry stalwarts, providing an opportunity to learn from experts in the textile and textile engineering industries.

Several government organizations and associations from Kenya have partnered with the India ITME Society to host this event, with the goal of promoting industrial cooperation and exploring the business potential of Kenya and other countries participating in the exhibition.

Mr Ketan Sanghvi, Chairman of India ITME Society, emphasized the importance of ITME Africa & Middle East 2023 in enhancing bilateral trade relations and promoting industrial cooperation between India and Kenya. He believes that the event will leverage the business potential of both countries and contribute to their respective textile technology and engineering industries.

Mr Updeep Singh expressed confidence that hosting the event in Nairobi would attract attention to the Kenyan textile industry and showcase the business potential of the country globally. He also highlighted the expected increase in trade volumes between India and Africa following the inclusion of the African Union in the G20 Summit.

Mr. Pramod Khosla highlighted the scope for infrastructure development in African countries and the opportunities it creates for various segments of technical textiles. He commended the India ITME Society for its efforts in promoting trade relations between India and Africa and boosting production in the African continent.
