TECHNOTEX is India’s premier show on technical textiles. The Ministry of Textiles, the Government of India, and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) are organizing the show. This flagship event consists of an international exhibition, a conference, and seminars. A common platform for interaction amongst stakeholders from across the global technical textiles value chain, TECHNOTEX exemplifies the immense potential for trade and investment between India and foreign countries in the technical textiles sector.

The curtain raiser for the event was held on December 5, 2022, in the presence of the chief guest, Smt. Darshana Vikram Jardosh, Hon’ble Minister of State for Textiles, Government of India, and the guest of honor, Shri Chandrakant Patil, Hon’ble Minister of Higher and Technical Education, Textile, and Parliamentary Affairs, Government of Maharashtra.

Shri Mohan Kavrie, Chairman, FICCI, delivered the welcome address to all the attendees of the curtain raiser. He said, “The government and FICCI have been promoting the technical textile industry for the past 20 years, but unfortunately we have felt shorthanded in increasing awareness. The industry leaders and stakeholders should also take part in the development process of the industry.”

Smt. Roop Rashi, Textile Commissioner, Govt. of India, delivered the opening remarks. She said, “TechnoTex is an excellent network opportunity for industries to look for new opportunities within India and international markets.” “The government is developing its National Technical Textile Mission to develop the technical textile industry in India till 2047.”

Chandrakant Patil addressed the issue of the lack of dedicated courses for the provision of skilled labour in the textile industry and offered the support of the Maharashtra state government to affiliate these professional courses with the Universities of Mumbai and Pune.

The joint secretary, ministry of textiles, Rajeev Saxena, also addressed the issue and said that the central government will provide the necessary financial support to universities for the infrastructure, lab equipment, and training of faculties.

Dheeraj Shah, chairman of the SRTEPC, and Avinash Misar were among the other invited guests.

TECHNOTEX 2023 will take place from February 22–24, 2023. The event will be organized at the Bombay Exhibition Center in Mumbai.

Technical textiles are engineered products with definite functionality. They are manufactured using natural as well as man-made fibers such as Nomex, Kevlar, Spandex, and Twaron that exhibit enhanced functional properties such as higher tenacity, excellent insulation, improved thermal resistance, etc.

The technical textiles contain profiles such as medical textiles, mobile textiles, industrial textiles, home textiles, packaging textiles, agro textiles, sport textiles, protective textiles, etc. These profiles will also be on display at the event.

The Indian armed forces and Indian railways are also two of the major stakeholders in the Indian technical textile value chain.

The event is focused on making India a manufacturing hub in the area of technical textiles under the “Make in India” initiative of the Government of India. Along with promoting production-linked incentives and the Pradhan Mantri Mega Industrial Textile Region and Apparel (MITRA),

The event will also provide opportunities to showcase the latest technological developments in technical textiles, the status, facilities, and services of R&D, quality control, government regulations and control, rules, and procedures.

The main components of the event will be B2B interactions (international, domestic, and institutional), exhibitions (pavilions and showrooms), webinars and digital sessions on each showcased sector, and a CEO roundtable where industrialists can participate in one-to-one conversations with other industrialists and officials from the Central and State governments.
