DBL Group Inaugurates Jinnat Textile Mills Limited in a Grand Ceremony

DBL Group, a renowned conglomerate in Bangladesh, proudly announced the inauguration of Jinnat Textile Mills Limited, a significant addition to its diverse portfolio and a testament to its unwavering commitment to excellence in the textile industry. The grand ceremony occurred at DBL Industrial Park in the Shreehatta Economic Zone of Moulvibazar, Sylhet.

The inauguration event witnessed the esteemed presence of several distinguished guests, including Mr. Shaikh Yusuf Harun, Executive Chairman of Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA), and Ms. Sarah Cooke, the British High Commissioner to Bangladesh.

Also in attendance were Mohammad Rehan Rashid, Country Director for Bangladesh at British International Investment, and Richard Palmer, Director and Head of Private Debt at British International Investment.

Jinnat Textile Mills Limited, a new venture under the umbrella of DBL Group, aims to contribute significantly to producing high-quality textiles for international buyers. The development of this state-of-the-art factory was made possible by a $52 million loan from British International Investment (BII), the UK Government’s Development Finance Institution.

The prominent chief guest, Ms. Sarah Cooke, inaugurated the facility, symbolizing the strong collaborative ties between Bangladesh and the United Kingdom. This event highlighted the UK’s commitment to supporting Bangladesh’s development goals, fostering an inclusive and green economic partnership.

Speaking on the occasion, Ms. Cooke expressed her pride in witnessing the opening of Jinnat Textile Mills, emphasizing its positive impact on job creation, poverty reduction, and business opportunities. Furthermore, she praised the commitment to working conditions for women, environmental sustainability, and the green practices implemented by the factory.

Guest of Honour, Mr. Shaikh Yusuf Harun, commended DBL Group and Jinnat Textile Mills Limited for their contribution to the economic growth of Bangladesh. He acknowledged the importance of such ventures aligning with BEZA’s vision for sustainable economic development.
Mr. Mohammad Rehan Rashid from British International Investment expressed his delight in celebrating the factory’s opening, which aligns perfectly with their vision to foster economic opportunities and inclusivity. The factory promotes green building practices and generates 1,000 low-skilled jobs, with a particular emphasis on providing opportunities for women.

The event was attended by representatives from BEZA, District Administration, Government Authorities, Banks, and Financial Partners, emphasizing the strategic partnerships necessary for the success of Jinnat Textile Mills Limited. DBL Group’s Chairman, Mr. Abdul Wahed; Managing Director, Mr. M. A. Jabbar; Vice Chairman, Mr. M. A. Rahim; and Deputy Managing Director and Group CEO, Mr. M. A. Quader, were all present, underscoring their dedication to the new venture.

Equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and a skilled workforce, Jinnat Textile Mills Limited is dedicated to ensuring the production of high-quality textiles.
