The Apparel Export Council (AEPC) is undertaking a series of roadshows nationwide to encourage domestic players to participate in one of India’s largest textile expositions. The initiative comes as AEPC aims to bridge the gap that has prevented India from occupying a prominent position in the global apparel export domain.

The first roadshow was recently successfully conducted in Noida, a thriving hub of the apparel industry known for its annual export of approximately Rs 40,000 crore. The AEPC is now focused on promoting Bharat Tex Expo 2024, a four-day leading textiles show, set to take place at Bharat Mandapam and Yashobhoomi in the national capital from February 26.

According to AEPC Secretary General Mithileshwar Thakur, Bharat Tex Expo 2024 will feature more than 3,500 exhibitors representing the entire textile value chain. The event is anticipated to attract over 3,000 international and 40,000 domestic buyers, making it a global platform for showcasing India’s textile trade potential.

Thakur highlighted India’s strengths in the textiles and garment sector and emphasized the country’s abundant raw materials. India is a top producer of cotton, silk, jute, polyester, viscose, nylon, and acrylic. He acknowledged, however, that India has yet to capitalize on these inherent advantages due to various factors.

Thakur sees the Bharat Tex Expo as an opportunity to rectify this situation by projecting India as the preferred global sourcing destination for textiles and garments. The platform will enable exporters to connect with significant stakeholders worldwide, maximizing their potential in the worldwide market.

With the roadshows and Bharat Tex Expo on the horizon, the AEPC hopes to revolutionize India’s apparel export industry and regain its prominence internationally.
