According to the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), in April 2023, almost 45.7 million people who called Germany home had jobs. In March 2023, the number of people with jobs increased by 15,000 (0.0%), seasonally adjusted, which was a smaller increase than in the preceding months.
The seasonally adjusted number of people in employment increased by 56,000 and 57,000, respectively, in February and March of 2023.
In April 2023, the labour force survey’s findings showed that 1.41 million people in Germany were unemployed. Compared to April 2022, this represented an increase of 19,000, or 1.4%. In April 2022, the unemployment rate remained constant at 3.2%.
When seasonal and erratic impacts are taken into account, the numberof unemployed stood at 1.30 million, which was a decline of 6,000 people, or 0.4 per cent, on March 2023. The adjusted unemployment rate in April 2023 remained unchanged on the previous month at 2.9 per cent.
