Annual ISCMA Get-Together: Insights on Sustainability and Opportunities in the Chemical Industry

The Indian Speciality Chemical Manufacturers Association (ISCMA) recently held its annual get-together, with the Chief Guest being Prof (Dr.) G. D. Yadav, Padmashri Awardee, National Science Chair (GOI), Emeritus Professor of Eminence, and Former Vice-Chancellor, ICT. The Guest of Honour for the event was Shri. U. Shekhar, Managing Director of Galaxy Surfactants Ltd.

Mr. Harold “Lee” Brayman, Acting Principal Commercial Officer, Mumbai were the special invitee for the event.

The event began with a welcome speech by Mr. Vinay Patil, President of ISCMA, followed by felicitations for the ISCMA past presidents, sponsors, and an award function. 

Esha Gosalia (Ramniklal S. Gosalia & Co.) received the best debut women entrepreneur award whereas Mr. Jaideep Shah (Sauradip Chemical Industries Pvt Ltd.) received Export Award under SME category. Contribution to Membership Drive and Young Entrepreneur Awards were given to Harshad Shah (Horizon Solvents) and Mr. Rajive Shah (Suradip Chemicals) respectively. 

The Chief Guest, Prof (Dr.) G. D. Yadav, gave an inspiring speech on the importance of the chemical industry and the role it plays in shaping our world. He also talked about the various challenges and opportunities facing the industry and the need for innovation and collaboration.

Dr. Yadav emphasized the importance of sustainability in the chemical industry and the need for companies to adopt sustainable practices in order to meet the demands of consumers and regulators. He talked about the various opportunities that are available for companies to innovate and develop sustainable products, including the use of renewable raw materials and the development of eco-friendly processes.

Dr. Yadav also talked about the role of research and development in driving sustainability in the chemical industry, and the need for collaboration between academia and industry to drive innovation and progress. He encouraged the audience to consider the impact of their work on the environment and to strive to make a positive contribution to sustainability. 

The Guest of Honour, Shri. U. Shekhar, also shared his insights on the chemical industry, he gave an insightful presentation on the sustainability and opportunities in the chemical industry. He discussed the challenges facing the industry, including the need to reduce environmental impact, increase efficiency, and meet the growing demand for sustainable products.

Overall, the annual get-together was a success, with attendees gaining valuable insights from the Chief Guest and Guest of Honour, as well as networking with other members of the chemical industry. The evening ended on a high note with the cocktail and dinner party, providing an opportunity for attendees to socialize and enjoy a festive atmosphere.
