The Dow Ecolibrium Brand portfolio now includes the DOWSIL IE-9100 Emulsion, a new product that was created to satisfy the textile industry’s need for high-performance, long-lasting water resistant (DWR) fabrics. The product, a silicone-organic hybrid that is 81% bio-based, has won the R&D 100 Award as well as the SEAL Sustainable Product Award.

This ground-breaking emulsion offers water repellency on par with conventional fluoro-based formulations, which makes it the perfect choice for footwear, athletic wear, outdoor gear, high-performance outerwear, and personal protective equipment.

The DOWSIL IE-9100 Emulsion offers other advantages like stain prevention, color fastness, tape adherence, and logo printability, while enabling formulators and brand owners to tailor the degree of water repellency. It ensures optimal comfort by remaining compatible with both natural and synthetic fibers while preserving the breathability of the cloth.

The OEKO-TEX ECO PASSPORT certified emulsion is simple to use in conventional manufacturing processes, offering finishing mills environmentally friendly solutions and aiding brand owners in their quest for increased sustainability and performance.

According to Isabelle Riff, Dow Marketing Leader, Textiles EMEAI, “we developed this Ecolibrium Durable Water Repellent Technology to help brands enhance fabric performance and meet sustainability goals.” “We look forward to helping textile formulators explore new possibilities with this powerful emulsion,” stated Yusuke Kuwana, Dow Marketing Leader, Textiles Asia.
