Dow has expanded its ENGAGETM REN Polyolefin Elastomers (POE) range with the introduction of its first bio-circular product for the flooring sector. This invention, which provides dimensional stability and fiber adhesion support, will be utilized in carpet tile backing.
This new solution helps customers satisfy environmental goals while providing the same outstanding performance as the rest of the ENGAGE POE line. The ENGAGE REN POEs produce bio-circular products with a reduced carbon footprint by using alternative feedstocks, such as used cooking oil and trash from biological sources. Because the resins are mass balance certified by ISCC PLUS, clients can trace these sustainable products throughout their supply chains.
The Dow Packaging and Specialty Plastics division’s Senior Marketing Manager, Joanna Giovanoli, said, “This innovation marks a key step in expanding our circularity offerings.” Our customers may lessen their dependency on fossil fuels and their carbon footprints by using our high-performing bio-circular feedstock solutions.
A key component of Dow’s lower-carbon plastics strategy is bio-circular materials. By 2030, the company hopes to commercialize 3 million metric tons of circular and renewable solutions through its “Transform the Waste” initiative. The effort focuses on plastic waste and alternative feedstocks such as bio-circular materials.
“We are committed to developing products that address sustainability and contribute to a circular economy,” said Rosalyn Kent, Dow’s Associate TS&D Scientist. Investigating alternate feedstock choices is essential to lessening production’s impact and developing collaborations in the bio-circular.
